Student Athlete Planning Services was created to address a common concern and frustration we’ve heard from so many families over the years, regardless of their age or level: “We’re learning as we go! But what do we do next?”

We have witnessed countless players in these situations make it to their desired next level and beyond. But we’ve also witnessed so many others needlessly throw in the towel way too early because they didn’t have a plan or understand their options.
“…But I’m an elite player. Won’t the scouts just ‘find me’?”
The top 2% of elite student-athletes receive unsolicited offers from Junior or College teams simply because they stand out from their peers when they play the game. The scouts find them on their own.
The vast majority fall into “The 98% Club”– those several thousand players in Canada and the US vying for the few coveted roster spots available. They need a master plan to get where they want to go and to market their name, skills, character and fit to Recruiters (who must be in the right place at the right time to watch you play).
Think about this very common scenario:
A recruiter attends your game (amongst the dozens he watches each month) in search of 1 or 2 players to fill key roster spots. On this night alone, he is watching 2 goalies, 12 Defensemen and anywhere from 3 to 4 lines of forwards on BOTH teams before he moves on to the next game. With up to 38 skaters to observe, it is easy to get overlooked.
Proactively marketing yourself to get on the radar of a team’s scouting staff will afford you the attention you need when they scout your game.
